PRE-SHOOT PREP GUIDE
Everything you need to know before you arrive for your shoot
Can't wait for your shoot but feeling a little nervous excitement at the same time? That's perfectly normal. This document should help, but even if it doesn't there's no need to worry since after the shoot begins the worries always melt away and everybody has an amazing experience. If you end up with any questions this document doesn't cover please don't hesitate to ask me directly!
General Prep
-
Make sure any outstanding payments are submitted before the session date.
-
Start stretching! You'll probably end up in a lot of bendy poses and you will have a much easier time if you have been limbering up.
-
Practice standing on your toes for as long as possible.
-
Pick your favorite shots from my website, instagram, and lookbook to give me a better feel for what you like in particular.
-
Make sure you fill out my questionnaire about your preferences for the shoot.
-
Add your girlfriends to my private VIP group on Facebook. If you’re up for sharing your images, they will go crazy when they see them, and you can even earn yourself some extra credit towards products if they book a shoot with me themselves.
-
Ask any questions you have that haven't already been answered.
What to Wear
-
If you are a lingerie girl, pick new or almost new pieces in black, white, and gold--generally try to minimize the colors and definitely avoid neons. For purples, pinks, reds, and blues feel free to consult me.
-
If you aren’t a lingerie girl, some hit pieces include big comfy sweaters, leather jackets, tailored jackets, button-down shirts, robes, and other loose tops. Mostly you will want to avoid bottoms.
-
If you don’t have anything you like you can always borrow from our client closet, which generally has enough to get anybody through a full shoot. We have a limited selection of bottoms, though, so in that case bring some new black panties or perhaps plan to go bottomless throughout, which is completely fine.
-
If you would rather not distract from your beauty with clothes, we also have numerous drapes, sheets, blankets, flowers, towels, and even just pose modifications that will still allow us to shoot you at whatever level of exposure your confidence allows.
For Clothes You Bring
-
Wash/steam/iron things in advance and pack them carefully so they arrive here looking good.
-
Cut off any tags so we aren’t having to constantly tuck those in.
-
Try them on to make sure they all fit properly. If not, either you can take advantage of this opportunity to go shopping, or you can just embrace the maxim that “less is more” in boudoir and plan to wear a little less.
-
If you aren’t sure about something, feel free to send over a picture of it and get some advice.
-
I have a number of accessories available, but choose multiple sets of earrings if you are into that and definitely bring any accessories you are particularly fond of.
-
If you want to shoot in heels, make sure they are very clean and taken care of. Very high heels look best, and you mostly won’t be standing on them.
Personal Grooming
-
Please do make sure your eyebrows and body hair are groomed to a level you will appreciate when viewing the photos. These standards are very personal so we don’t have any direct recommendations.
-
If you are going to wax, please do it the appropriate amount of time before your shoot to avoid any skin irritation on shoot day. If you don't know what this is for you, usually at least 3 days in advance is good.
-
Do groom your nails or get a manicure--they will likely be featured in a lot of different poses and you want to enjoy looking at them!
-
If you are getting hair and makeup done, come with your skin and hair clean and dry. If you are doing it yourself, let us know if you want to do it before coming or if you will need time once you arrive.
-
Don’t spray tan if you don’t already do it regularly.
Doing Your Own Hair and Makeup
-
Go heavier than normal with the makeup--the camera pulls off about 30-50%.
-
Eyeliner and mascara are more important than many other things.
-
Try hard to match your face tone to your body tone--don’t go super light or super dark, even if that’s what you normally like. The mismatch will be very noticeable.
-
Red lips are generally better than odd shades of pink.
-
The messy look is good for hair, and you will probably play with your hair a lot during the shoot, so probably don’t do a “fixed” hairstyle (obviously this might not apply to short hair).
-
It’s better to wash your hair the night before if possible.
On the Day of the Shoot
-
Eat something!
-
Drink plenty of water.
-
Get plenty of sleep the night before.
-
Don’t forget any outfits you really want to wear.
-
Wear loose-fitting clothes that won’t leave any imprints on your body to the shoot. No elastic (socks, bras, yoga pants, tight panties, etc. leave marks that can last for up to an hour on the skin).
-
Plan extra time for traffic.
-
Get excited! It's finally time!
