THE BOUDOIR

What is the boudoir? It's that magical place a woman retreats to when she wants to bring out the beauty hidden within. It is the inner room where she goes to find her peace. To glimpse inside is to get an intimate view of her strength, her vulnerability, her passion, and her soul. It is a spiritual journey--one that touches the very heart of what it means to be uniquely her. To see behind the armor she wears to protect herself from the world. This is a place of wonder, of innocence, of sensuality, of passion, and of peace. It is where she goes to find herself when the world has beaten her down. It is a place of safety, where she can let down her guard and be herself. It is a place of power--the den of the lioness where she returns after the hunt. It is the place where her beauty is forged anew, scars and all. This is the boudoir, and it is beautiful.

THE BEGINNING

The experience starts when you email or text us with your first intention to book. I will take some time to get to know you in order to craft the perfect photoshoot just for you. Then you set your date, pay your shoot fee, and get excited! In the weeks leading up to your shoot, you will prepare by choosing your outfits, styling, favorite reference photos, and whether or not you want professional hair and makeup for your shoot.

THE SHOOT

The day of your shoot you wake up after plenty of sleep, enjoy a little breakfast with your pre-shoot excitement and nerves, and then make your way over to the studio in some loose-fitting clothes. We meet you at the door and you head inside our luxurious studio full of warmth, natural light, and beautiful photo setups. We share some tea or coffee while we have a little chat to get comfortable with one another and finalize the last details of your shoot. Then you get your hair and makeup prepared, get into your first outfit, and you take your first steps into a bolder, more confident self as we begin the photoshoot. The next couple hours are a magical mess of stretches, poses, waves of emotion, sparkles of laughter, finding peace, and ultimately beautiful personalized art.

THE PAYOFF

Once we wrap up the shooting portion of the day you will change into comfortable clothes and head out for a little lunch. After lunch you will come back to a beautiful slideshow of partially-edited photos from your shoot. Then we will go through them one by one on a massive proofing monitor to make your final choices for further editing, wall art, or album inclusion. Making these choices is usually the hardest part, although of course you could always just choose to get everything! With the choices made you will pay for whatever products you ordered and then can choose to sit for a short video to remind yourself in the future about the experience and what it has meant for you. All that’s left after this is to wait for a few weeks for your products to be ready for you to come and pick up!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does it cost?

The basic session fee is currently 250,000 KRW, or 350,000 KRW including professional hair and makeup. This covers your pre-consultation, your studio time, access to the client closet, your shoot, your viewing session, and even a complimentary headshot! Photos and products from the session are ordered separately at additional cost so that you can get exactly what you want, and I’ll walk you through that process step by step.

What should I wear for the shoot?

In the weeks leading up to your shoot we will discuss various lookbooks with you to determine what kind of images you want to create and will work with you to pick out the best outfits to build those looks. This might include pieces you already own, pieces you buy just for the shoot, or items from our own studio closet. It's hard to go wrong with a loose white button-down shirt, a loose-knit sweater in grey or white, a loose white A-shirt, a fancy robe, some perfectly-fitting lingerie in dark or neutral colors, or your birthday suit. It's better to avoid neons and colors like them--the outfit should enhance you, not distract from you. If you have a favorite outfit that you think might clash with these recommendations just let me know--usually I can find a way to incorporate that for you.

FAQ

Do I need to get in shape or lose weight for the shoot?

I highly recommend getting in shape for a better, healthier life, but it isn’t at all necessary for a boudoir shoot. In fact, doing a boudoir shoot before you get in shape can help you see that you are already beautiful and can change your focus from achieving a certain “look” to being the healthiest you can possibly be, which I think is a much better goal than being a certain shape or weight. Don’t forget that you can always come in for another session to celebrate when you finally hit those goals!

Are my pictures safe? Will anyone else see them?

Your images will absolutely not be shared with anyone unless you tell us you want them to be shared. Every woman you see on the website or social media gave explicit written permission for her photos to be shared. I am very careful with your photos. They are all stored in-house on private disks, not online. All editing is done in-house. The photo reveal is in person. If you want to purchase printed items you can even pick those up in person. Of course many women want to share their images to help others see the beauty a normal, natural woman possesses, and in that case you can sign a release detailing exactly what you do or don't shared.

How long will the shoot take?

Excluding hair and makeup (which you can do yourself, can get done at a shop nearby, or can have us arrange to have done onsite for an extra fee), we plan about two hours of shooting time and an hour of time choosing your favorites and what you want to purchase. This is usually separated by a break for lunch of an hour or two. Photos usually start at 10:30am or 11am and you should plan to arrive no later than 9:45 (9:30 is better!) so we can have a little coffee together while we talk about our plans for the shoot, choose your outfits, and just get comfortable with each other. More than two hours of shooting time doesn’t usually keep providing great photos, as you will probably be tired and hungry by that time and those aren’t conducive to great images, but if things are really flowing we may want to extend the shooting time. Once shooting finishes I go and prepare the photos for you to view and you take a little time to rest and relax. Plan to get some food and drink and just take some time to mentally and emotionally process the experience. The viewing session usually starts around 2 or 3 pm Generally viewing is finished by 4 or 5pm, after which you head on home and wait with anticipation for the final edits and products to be ready!

You'll be flying high after your photoshoot
What are you waiting for?

I don’t know how to pose. Can you still work with me?

Of course! That’s one of the most important parts of my job. Most girls who get boudoir shoots done are not professional models, and many of them have never posed for any kind of photoshoot before. I will teach you the basics of posing and then guide you through each pose you choose if there is something specific you want. Often I'll even demo the poses for you myself! The truth is, though, that you are uniquely you! To get the best images, I actually need to find out who you are and shoot to that. I have a large lookbook to help you think about what you like, but from there we will make each pose and image uniquely yours. The way I shoot will often keep you in motion, providing authentic images without any of the stiffness you might find in more traditionally posed photography. Most likely you will end the day with a much better idea of how to move your body to convey the message you want to convey, and you will definitely be sore the next day. Posing is a serious workout.

I’m not comfortable with raw photos of myself. Do you photoshop?

Yes, my standard edits would remove temporary blemishes, but I don't remove or alter permanent features unless there is a very specific reason for it. Boudoir is meant to help you love yourself just as you are. Photoshopping you into someone else typically just makes you feel worse about yourself down the road. You are beautiful the way you are, not as an edited plastic version of yourself. Scars, rolls, tattoos, stretch marks, and whatever else makes you unique are part of the story of what brought you to where you are today. They are a part of what makes you truly beautiful. These things are a testament to the strength and confidence of who they are today, and since they aren't going away you might as well learn to love and accept them. The women who shoot with me typically end up loving far more photos from their session than they ever thought possible, and that includes the images we specifically take to show you the beauty of the things you thought of as imperfections before your photoshoot.

My Clients Say

Miss T Testimonial Image_edited.png
"Going in, I wasn't sure what to expect, but Matt made me feel really comfortable within the first half an hour. I think it was just him being himself. He was very professional throughout the whole experience, like no touching, [making sure] you lead the experience, and you only do anything that you feel comfortable with. This gave me the assurance that I get to decide what I want to do. If you ask me as a lady, I think this is a once in a lifetime experience--you should really consider doing it."

"Really, I love them. They look like they came out of a fantasy book, like they're so beautiful, I can't even believe that that's me. They're gorgeous."
